First stage

Adriana Murillo de Gaxiola (Ariadne Díaz) is married to Alonso Gaxiola (Horacio Pancheri), owner of a Talavera factory in Puebla. Magdalena (Ana Isabel Torre) and Rebeca (Michelle Renaud), Adriana's sisters, live with them as they are orphans. Alonso and Adriana have a solid marriage, where everything seems wonderful, because they have not yet realized that Rebeca is a capricious and envious woman, but with enough intelligence to pass in front of everyone as a "true angel", only Magdalena knows the dark heart of her younger sister and suspects her intentions.

Rebeca has always been secretly in love with Alonso, and therefore deeply envies her sister; this feeling turns into hatred when she finds out that Adriana will soon become a mother. On the other hand, Magdalena experiences a tragedy, as her boyfriend disappears on the day of their wedding, of course, behind this event is the malice of Rebeca. Unable to face the situation, she retreats to a convent.

The destiny of Alonso and Adriana will change forever when an argument between Adriana and Rebeca ends in a terrible accident in which Adriana loses her life, but the baby she was expecting survives, a beautiful girl named Lucía.
Second stage

24 years have passed since the tragic accident, Rebeca (Claudia Ramírez) and Alonso (René Strickler) are married and parents of a daughter, Nora (Ximena Romo), an unbalanced, envious, and selfish young woman, who has always felt inferior to her sister and wants everything she has. In addition, Rebeca has been more of a mother than an aunt to Lucía (Esmeralda Pimentel), although deep down she detests her for being the living proof of the great love between her sister Adriana and Alonso. This frustration leads Rebeca to have many lovers, including Federico Valdivia Fuentes (Alfonso Dosal), a much younger man than her, who becomes so obsessed with Rebeca that he commits suicide in front of her when she ends their relationship.

Lucía is a noble, sweet, and kind-hearted young woman who is about to marry Rodrigo Zúñiga (Mariano Palacios), her lifelong boyfriend, but she does not imagine that the wickedness of her sister Nora is about to destroy her happiness. Nora manages to sleep with Rodrigo and he, feeling pressured, leaves Lucía standing at the altar. After this event, Lucía falls into a deep depression.

Marcelo Escalante Fuentes (Erick Elías), Federico's brother, arrives in Puebla to avenge the woman who drove his brother to suicide, but he will be greatly surprised to learn that the woman he is looking for, Adriana Murillo, died 24 years ago. This leads him to become involved with the Gaxiola-Murillo family. It is there that he meets Lucía, whom he begins to fall in love with, without realizing that she is Rebeca's niece, the woman he is looking for and for whom his half-brother committed suicide. However, things will not be so easy for Marcelo, as Lucía wants nothing to do with love after the trauma she experienced on her wedding day.

Marcelo manages to make Lucía fall in love with him and due to fate, they are separated again but they will fight to be together always and overcome every obstacle, especially Nora, Rebeca, Amador, Lucía's ex-father-in-law who hates Marcelo, and they can make their love triumph.

This is a story where love will have to fight against evil, envy, intrigues, revenge, and secrets from the past, in order to triumph and paint love with "The Color of Passion".
