Synopsis

Isabel Contreras is a privileged young woman: she is beautiful, rich, her parents adore her, and she is engaged to the handsome Rodrigo, whom she will marry as soon as she finishes university. In addition, Alonso, her horseback riding instructor, has proposed that she represent the country in an international championship. But Isabel has an enemy in her own home: her cousin Alejandra.

One day, Rodrigo asks Isabel to go to his apartment with him, but she refuses. Wanting to hurt her cousin, Alejandra seduces Rodrigo and Isabel catches them. Knowing that her father will kick Alejandra out of the house if he finds out what happened, Isabel keeps quiet and breaks off her engagement, but without giving further explanations.

At the same time, Gerardo, Rodrigo's father, tells his family that they are practically bankrupt and that he is about to lose the clinic he owns. His wife, María Luisa, a proud, superficial woman who lives for appearances, cannot bear the idea of losing everything; therefore, she encourages her son to reconcile with Isabel and marry her to solve all their financial problems. Meanwhile, Gerardo, tired of his wife's reproaches, maintains an extramarital relationship with Claudia, a woman who denies her humble past and who does not really love Gerardo, as all she cares about is satisfying her ambition for money and social status.
