Synopsis

At the San Joaquín ranch, located in San Miguel de Allende, the millionaire Don Alberto Duarte Solís dies, owner of a great fortune and a prosperous estate where thoroughbred horses are raised. His closest relative is his niece, Florencia, who is about to marry her ambitious fiancé, Leonardo Altamirano. He thinks he will be very happy because his future wife will be the owner of a great fortune, but to his horror, Florencia will only inherit thirty percent of the money; the rest of Don Alberto's fortune and the estate will go to a stranger from Madrid, Alberto Salerno.

Homero, Leonardo's uncle and just as interested as him, makes plans for Alberto to be arrested for drug trafficking on his way to Mexico and sentenced to twenty years in prison. Meanwhile, Leonardo marries Florencia and encourages her to challenge the will due to the absence of the main heir, so she becomes the owner of everything, but only in name, because Leonardo takes care of everything on the estate. However, only eight months later, Alberto escapes from prison during a fire and heads to San Miguel Allende with a revenge plan in mind.

His main suspect is obviously Florencia, as she knew he was on his way and also had reasons to eliminate him. Alberto, a former police officer, decides to start investigating what happened from within. Under the false name of Marcos Mejía, he gets a job as a laborer on the estate that is technically his. However, he is surprised to discover in Florencia a beautiful woman who seems to be engulfed in sadness. Florencia, trapped in a marriage that has not been consummated and full of sexual frustration, is attracted to the new worker.
