Victoriano Santos is a proud and haughty ranch man who has managed to accumulate immense wealth thanks to his effort and dedication. His greatest pride are his three beautiful daughters: Diana, Casandra, and Constanza; the three inherited their father's strong character, but deep down they are as noble as he is. The three sisters live under the care of Inés, their nanny, who loves and protects them as if they were her own mother. In the past, Inés and Victoriano were about to get married; however, Loreto, Victoriano's supposed best friend, abused her and left her pregnant, causing Victoriano to believe that Inés had deceived him and ending their wedding plans.
Diana, the eldest of the three sisters, has never been able to forgive her father for marrying Déborah Piñeiro, whom Diana has never trusted for considering her ambitious and opportunistic; therefore, she constantly disagrees with her father. Diana is engaged, pressured by Victoriano, to Elías, Déborah's brother; however, she meets Alejandro San Román, a veterinarian and single father of two girls, and falls in love with him as he does with her. Therefore, she decides to break off her engagement with Elias to live her love with Alejandro against her father's wishes, but Déborah is cruel to the couple and devises a plan to make Diana believe that Alejandro is harassing her, causing her to see them kissing naked in the river. Hurt and driven by her pride, she decides to end her relationship with Alejandro believing he has betrayed her. In addition, Lisete, Alejandro's ex-wife and mother of Maria José and Sabina, returns and will use all her tricks to keep them apart.
