Synopsis

The story is about the lives of people in old Spanish California, especially in the old city of Our Lady of the Angels, currently Los Angeles, where a man named Diego de La Vega, son of the successful former military man Alejandro de la Vega, lives. Diego is a very attractive, intelligent man, knowledgeable in laws and literature, who is only interested in wooing ladies with poetry and reading a good book, but Diego has a secret, he is the Zorro, the most wanted bandit in California, who is dedicated to ensuring justice and order in the city, he is determined, brave, and a handsome outlaw.

Meanwhile, in Spain, a liberal and revolutionary woman named Esmeralda Sánchez de Moncada flees from the royal guard who wants to take her to the church to marry her, but she does not want to get married and deliberately runs away from the church. In her escape attempt, she arrives at a gypsy fair where a woman gives her a medallion, but Esmeralda ignores her and keeps running. The medallion is actually a map that leads to a hidden treasure in America belonging to Mercedes Mayorga de Aragón, better known as Sara Kali, queen of Spain and mother of Esmeralda. Sara Kali was believed to be dead during Esmeralda's birth, but she is actually in America and imprisoned in the Callao jail, with an iron mask covering her entire face, due to a plot between a powerful and evil duke, named Jacobo Almagro de Castellón, and Fernando Sánchez de Moncada.

Esmeralda's stepfather, Don Fernando Sánchez de Moncada, wants to marry Esmeralda so that her fiancé, who has a lot of power in the crown, can speak to the king and make him governor of a city in America.
