Synopsis

La Esclava Isaura (1976) Isaura The Slave (version international) is an adaptation of the novel A Escrava Isaura, set in Brazil during the slavery era. Isaura is a young mixed-race slave, orphaned since birth, raised with dignity despite her condition. Although treated with some deference by her mistress, she lives under the control of Commander Almeida. Over time, the commander’s son, Leôncio, becomes obsessed with her and uses cruelty to keep her under his power, while Isaura dreams of freedom. The story is filled with intrigue, sacrifice, forbidden love, and the struggle for justice.
